UPDATE, 4/10: As many cynical Redditors suspected, Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy's plan to release a video full of Westworld Season 2 spoilers was a hoax - after their Reddit post received the requisite 1000 upvotes, Nolan linked to a YouTube video that seems to begin with legitimate spoiler footage from Season 2, with Bernard waking up on a beach with no memory of what happened.
Of course, the shot soon transforms to actresses Evan Rachel Wood (Dolores) and Angela Sarafyan (Clementine) at a piano, with Wood singing Rick Astley's Never Gonna Give You Up while Sarafyan plays the tune. That's right, Reddit got Rickrolled - and considering Nolan and Joy have been teasing this for a month, setting it up at South By Southwest and in press interviews (and even laying breadcrumbs for it at last year's PaleyFest), you've got to applaud their dedication to trolling.

Westworld creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy have an ingenious plan to prevent online spoilers in Season 2: By spoiling Season 2 themselves.
Nolan and Joy detailed the 'controversial' plan - which they'd previously teased during the show's panel at South By Southwest - via a Reddit post during an AMA; which is fitting, considering Reddit was the source of many fan theories that turned out to be true as Season 1 progressed.
In the post, the showrunners admitted how much they enjoyed watching fans engage with the show and speculate on its twists during the freshman season, but conceded, 'Theories' can actually be spoilers, and the line between the two is confusing. It's something we've been thinking about since last season. The fans of Game of Thrones, for instance, rallied around and protected the secrets of the narrative in part because they already knew those secrets (through season 5). We thought about this long and hard, and came to a difficult (and potentially highly controversial) decision. If you guys agree, we're going to post a video that lays out the plot (and twists and turns) of season 2. Everything. The whole sordid thing. Up front. That way the members of the community here who want the season spoiled for them can watch ahead, and then protect the rest of the community, and help to distinguish between what's 'theory' and what's spoiler.'

It's worth noting that during the SXSW panel, Nolan also admitted, 'We love to f*** with Reddit as much as possible,' which means that this could just be another elaborate game that the creators are playing with the fans, and perhaps the video - if it does see the light of day - will simply contain misdirects and false information to throw fans off the scent, just as blockbuster movies do in their marketing to prevent plot points from leaking.
But perhaps Nolan and Joy are being sincere, and truly do intend to give fans the chance to spoil the show for themselves - and subsequently join the fight to prevent those twists from spoiling other fans in the form of 'theories' - but only if the Reddit post reaches 1000 upvotes.
Either way, fan reaction to the proposed plan seems mixed so far - with many Redditors expressing skepticism that Nolan and Joy will truly deliver the goods with no trickery involved.
'It will make things even crazier than S1. You will have the people who have watched the video and know (or do they) and they will try and hide things from the people who don't know anything. On the other side you will have the people who try and spoil it, but if the video is fake, then you plant fake spoilers, but a big portion of the fans think they're true. And yes, they basically create a maze of information in which you don't know what is real and what is not,' Martos97 predicts.

'You probably shouldn't post it. Uploading the entire plot of Season 2 beforehand will result in the spoilers being shared everywhere on the internet, which in turn makes it harder for people to avoid. Previous examples of this include when plot points, or at times, entire episodes of Game of Thrones leaked, and many unsuspecting fans on social media ended up getting spoiled beforehand,' says a user named Hordemaster63.
Many users express concern that other fans would purposefully try to spoil those that want to remain (to use a Game of Thrones term) Unsullied. 'This assumes that people on the internet are nice and respect other people enough not to spoil things for them. If an official spoiler video is put out there, there is no way I will be able to avoid the season finale twists and reveals for the several months before it airs,' writes CodeMonkeyX. 'Anyone who visits Twitch chat rooms for example, will know that there is a small but annoying group that lust loves to yell out spoilers for games being played, for other sporting events going on at the same time, and for movies/tv shows just so they can make people mad. This is a bad idea, I normally shut down my internet browsing when the east coast airing is going on. But I can not do that for 3 months before the finale airs...'
Other commenters are worried that it'll take the fun out of speculating about the season, since the spoilers will be readily available. 'I love this comment, and I love that you're discussing solutions with the community like this! Thank you so much! However, I don't particularly love the idea of a video,' says jIsraelTurner. 'I love to read fan theories, as long as they are uncertain. If there is a video released, I'd know that every theory post not marked spoiler is a false theory. And if I want to read good theories, then I'll have to read spoilers - and know that they're correct. Much of the fun in this community is the thinking and guessing, but never quite knowing.'
